Lotus pods
« on: August 08, 2008, 03:25:59 PM »
I have some lotus pods. When is the correct time to cut them off for decorative use. In past years I let them age on the plant. They did not look good.  Should I cut them after the petals fall? When?

Not sure...I always just leave mine---but, I have noticed that once they get to the stage that the whole thing is dried then the seeds tend to fall out...maybe try cutting one or two off before they dry out to see if it helps the seeds to stay in better...

I'm leaving mine for another month just because they will get so much bigger in one month...and then I'll have hundreds to cut while riding on my kayak.  :)
Peace to all  ... Joyce
