Soaked through and through!
« on: December 18, 2008, 04:57:28 PM »
After a whole day of rain yesterday I was able to enjoy pulling out what look like white carrots out of my garden.  They're actually weeds with very long tap roots.

Beautifully sunny today but chilly.  Got snow in the local hills.  I'll have to check my cell phone for pics I took.  Totally amazing to see snow so low in our area in a long while.

Snow or maybe frost on the local foothills too.  It will be in the 50s today.
Pretty good snow in Las Vegas.

Snow is great for gardens. What doesn't immediately freeze is protected from even colder temps and wind burn.
Then when things warm up, the snow melts slowly, and all that water gets into the ground, instead of running off.

We are experiencing a dry cold front today. The wind is howling. The wind will kill a lot of plants that snow could protect.  :-\
