My greenhouse
« on: August 24, 2008, 04:47:12 PM »
Not the prettiest location but it was where it would fit. The Papyrus is from MikeW and the tropical lilies in with it from Marilyn C and Kat. Sadly, our weather has been cloudy and I haven't gotten a single bloom.

The pond before Bob put an edge on the top of it. Why I don't have a new picture, I don't know. The cat spitter isn't hooked up yet either.....

Lotus 'Sharon' from Marie, you can see the new edge on the pond in this photo. Looks much better.

Despite spider mites, Gardenia radicans did bloom

Meyer lemon and friend

Another shot of the Stephanotis, the entire greenhouse smells like a bridal bouquet. Taro and Mexican petunias from Lawanna. Red runner and water zinnia from Kat.

That's so cool, the little pond in the greenhouse.  I've never seen something like that before.  Is the gh heated in the winter?
My next female cat will be called "Whata Lily"!

Yes, it is heated but needs lights and the pond needs to be heated too. I have not been very successful with tropical waterlilies though I keep trying.....I figure if Sean can grow them in his kitchen  :o (and I've seen him do it with my own eyes) I should be able to grow them in a greenhouse!  >:(-

Wow...must be a BIG kitchen.  I just shared the "kitchen idea" with my better half, who immediately said "NO WE ARE NOT DOING THAT IN THE KITCHEN!"  Ah well, I gave it a shot...(was also told I could not have a gh)  ;)

Nope, Sean has a small kitchen. The amount of plants he has crammed on his deck plus a pond is simply amazing.

The greenhouse was from Harbor Freight and cost only $229.00. DH spent almost that much on wood to build the foundation  {:-P;; One must build a foundation as they are too short to stand up in otherwise.

VERY NICE LeeAnne!!  O0  I don't have a place for a greenhouse since the yard floods BIGTIME every few years...unless I built it up about 4' and that might look kind of weird  :-\  I can only imagine how fragrant it is in there ;)  I really like the stephanotis!

Looks GREAT! @O@
We will be building one attached to the house by the garage,
There is a perfect little area there with retaining wall already shaped like a 10 x 14 footprint. {:-P;; O0

Looks like a very happy little spot in the universe LeeAnne.
Love to plop in there with a coffee on a chilly morning.

Love your little pond, greenhouse, variety of plants & blooms.  Sorry to hear your tropical lilies are struggling.  Get a heater in the pond & that will make a big difference.  What a great deal on the greenhouse & DH doing a great job on the foundation.

There is never enough room for all of the water lilies that I want ;-)

Very nice LeeAnne. I love the Stephanotis the best. Is it a perennial ? And if so ,what zones can it survive in ?

Thanks for all the compliments.

Stephanotis is a tropical evergreen vine. Difficult as a house plant but some do have success.
I would say zone 10 or higher.
