Waiting for the hurricane
« on: August 31, 2008, 08:51:06 PM »
We are out of the strike zone - but still within the area that could get TS winds.

So far, no rain, no wind. Just gorgeous blue skies and spectacular sunsets.

:)

Hope all is well.  Thinking of you and others in the path.

We aren't in the path. :)
But the floodwaters are topping the levees in NO. Maybe they will hold?

This hurricane has brought us the most deliciously cool, northerly winds (the back side of the far away hurricane).
THere is disaster elsewhere, but so far this hurricane has been a blessing for us.

I'm glad you aren't in the path and got some cool breezes.  I doubt it has to do with Gustav but we finally got some serious rain and cooling today.  The rainy season has been very minimal this year and things are looking parched, I was glad to get soaked walking to the car.

The news I'm seeing down here seems to say that the levees have held.  Let's hope that is true.

The news out of NOLA isn't gorey enough for prime time - you have to look for it. Took a lot of damage, but not much loss of life, thanks be!
There are areas that will be out of power for 2 weeks.

Now its a long way off - but I'm thinking H. Ike could be a threat.
