Water lilies after a Hurricane
« on: September 28, 2008, 06:41:21 AM »
When we got back, the water lilies were all tangled. The wind had apparently - I didn't stay to watch - made enough surface waves to twist the stems of the leaves of the plants.
That took about three days to untangle - isn't it amazing how water lilies shrink and expand?
Now they are back in full bloom.  o(:-)
I dunno tho - should I fertilize?  :D

Looks to me that they are screaming, "We survived!  We survived! Take THAT Ike!"

I hope it doesn't take a hurricane to make my lilies look so healthy and full as yours!  I'm glad to see they survived the winds.

Are all the purple lilies in your photos the same kind or different.  I like the fullness of the blooms in the 2nd and 4th shots.

Really glad you are well!

Again, love your pond.

I've been wanting a natural, mud bottom pond for a while now.

Seeing yours my spur me on that direction!

The 2nd and 4th photo are both of the same lily. They are growing in the mud, having escaped the original pot.
They were marked "Director Moore" - but Kat thinks that its really "King of Siam". That happens at stores. People read the tags and carelessly stick the tags back in a different pot.
:)

Its actually blue, not purple. Bright light this morning.

Your pictures are wonderful.  Glad everything survived the wind.  Those colors of the blue are beautiful.

Your lilies look very healthy & happy.  Glad to see Rhonda Kay has done so well for you, & I still think the one looks like King of Siam  O0

There is never enough room for all of the water lilies that I want ;-)
