My new carport
« on: October 25, 2008, 06:20:06 PM »
a few mistakes but easily fixed. I had it way to tall.  I have a hacksaw, worked fine.
Now to anchor it before the winds return.  No, the tail lights are not on, just a reflection from the flash.

Jerry that looks great! I hope it works out for you, but I can't figure out why you need one in beautiful California!?

I'd love to get one of those for my hubby's car, he parks it outside in the snow and ice all winter long. The car he NEVER drives gets the primo space inside the garage.  ::)

Karen, it's because my evergreen elms litter constantly.  They do provide wonderful shade, but the cars are covered with leaves, pods ,seeds and God knows what else.  I used 60% shade fabric, The added shade will be good as well as offering a better growing environment to some plants 8)
A dusk photo.
I plan to face the upright poles with bamboo.  I think it will be a nice effect.

Jerry, now that proves it------You have too much stuff,  ::) but then again, we love stuff don't we? @O@ @O@
The sun is a real killer of finish, to say nothing of the tree droppings.
I like the idea of the bamboo covering the aluminum. It will give it a Jerry look O0 O0.
I think that I know where you might just be able to get some bamboo ;)

Looks good Jerry.  I need to do something like that in my patio area in the back yard.  What's giving strength to the crown to keep it from collapsing under the weight of wet debris that may accumulate this winter?

The pitch gives it strength.  I have 2 good guys that sold me the stuff.  I wanted a flat roof, less obtrusive, but the span was too big for that.
If you want me to hook you up with them just holler.  You can visit them and we can do lunch too.
My pool playing buddy and his brother in law were a great help.  The thing is unwieldy.  You need a few pairs of hands.  Monday I will anchor it.
And Steve I hope it is strong enough to support the snow load! lol lol @O@
COST so far is $300.00,  need a few "feet" to anchor it.

Just what I was going to ask Jerry. What holds it down when the wind blows? Looks good now and will look better with the bamboo.

It must be nice to be retired. You are able to take your cars out camping whenever you wish. Its a great time of year for it also.

Nope sold it with 6000 miles on the odometer.  Now a 2 Pruis family.  Let 'em eat sand!
I offered the new one to wife, she declined.
The Element was my first new car ever. Now a new Prius is.  The Element is a good car, I just never  loved it

looks good Jerry :) I'm looking for something like that but will hold snow... or at least let it slip off so my trailer can be protected.

Krista, maybe with a wider weave it would work.  I am sure someone up there knows.  Google "Canopies."
