Has anyone ever seen cats like these?
« on: January 22, 2009, 04:59:26 PM »
I had a feral black mama cat that kittens this summer--I'm not sure how many she had.  She had short haired black cats which are adorable, and then two of these!!  I've never seen a ruff around their necks like this, I believe they are both males and I have tamed one of them.  He is so fluffy right now, he looks like a bear!   These pics are not good, they're too dark, but he wouldn't hold still.  I'll have to try again  :P

Oh wow, he's beautiful!  Would never dream they're ferrel, and not some fancy pedigreed breed.

Is that a ring of color around his ruff, or is it reflection from the camera?  Looks like a thin soft grey ring around the tips of his fur, just around the neck.

Yes, that gray ring is very fluffy and he has a brother just like that.  They are not feral, but Mom is.  She brought them to the food to eat when were old enough, so of course now, the kittens have been tamed.. :)  He has a twin, and they are the most unusual cats I've had here on the farm.

We've had sort of a thaw the last two days and I snapped these two pics of him flopping around on the porch.  He's very affectionate, I'm glad I took the time to pick him up when he was afraid of me and pet him.  Now he acts like he's starved for affection!  ::)

What a mane! He looks like a lion. I wonder if he's got an ancient Lion hair gene? I doubt I'd ever breed a cat for twisty legs, but I sure would breed one for a mane like that.

Thanks all!  His mom is plain black short hair and his daddy is my big tabby Tom cat, Bambi.  I don't know what gene that is, but it sure produced beautiful kittens.  He has a thick undercoat and notice the reddish tips on the long black top coat.

I agree Karen J:  I wouldn't breed for twisty legs either and if I could catch those twisty-legged breeders I'd have them fixed.  But I DO like the looks of these cats, and they are very sweet natured.  I saw a breed called "Norwegian Forest Cat" and wonder if it's a throwback to that cat.  I'll never know, I'm just gonna enjoy them.  o(:-)
