Since I'm coming to CA this summer, I thought I'd ask if I can finally join you all. How about July 25?

Sounds like fun.  Any SoCal ponders live right on the coast?  It likely will be pretty warm that late in the summer.

I was planning to suggest we resume our party.
Mike. Mike W. Annette, Brian et al    what do you think of the date?  the 25 of July is a Saturday.
I am willing.

We may do a mini get together when Sean comes down.   Here is fine as well as Mike Ws
I think he will be here in May.

My wife bought 2:00 p.m. matinee tickets for a show at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza...I could make it in the evening or on the 26th.

I checked my meeting schedule and it looks like I have committee meetings from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday the 25th and then from 8 - 10 a.m. on Sunday the 26th. So later Saturday (after the 2 p.m. matinee) would be good for me as well as Sunday afternoon. It may take me awhile to get to where ever we're meeting, I'll be at the convention center...is anyone close?

I think noon till whenever is what we usually do.  As far as you go it must be on Sunday.
let's see what others can arrange.
We usually do a pot luck.  I will do the Bar B Q burgers.
Jessica I would have done this earlier or later in the year, but June is ok with me.
We did once have a problem with June, because of weddings and graduations. Sunday is Church day.
 Guys, your input please.

I'm flexible at this point so either day and whatever time is okay.  Should it be hot the fetching one will either not come with me or retreat inside your house with Elaine and Annette....

You keep saying it will be hot, so how hot? Dallas will probably be 100+ at that time, so I'm hoping to get a break!

If the end of July is really bad, please plan a better time! :)

June is pretty good. August and September tend to be hot.  It is a dry heat even then.
We can always go indoors.

Gary, YES! We'll make it a Ponding Gator Alum gathering as well. I sure don't understand this "heat" they keep talking about. ?)(? I recently read the following on wikipedia:

Dallas has a humid subtropical climate, though it is located in a region that also tends to receive warm, dry winds from the north and west in the summer, bringing temperatures well over 100 °F (38 °C) at times and heat-humidity indexes soaring to as high as 117 °F (47 °C). When only temperature itself is accounted for, the north central Texas region where Dallas is located is one of the hottest in the United States during the summer months, usually trailing only the Mojave Desert basin of Arizona, southern Nevada, and southeastern California.  :o :o :o

;)

besides, it's nice in your back yard anyway....lots of tree cover and such.  down here, with no trees and no paito cover...it's hot in July!  But I'm kinda 'desert' where I am...cool at night, hot during the day.
I'm broke and can't afford to pay attention, so you might have to lend me an ear.

"Cackling" like a chicken.....

Jessica I could not possibly survive in the heat of hot areas in Texas.  We are spoiled here in SoCal with ocean breezes and for short period of times we get the hot air from the deserts just east of the coast and central areas.  Evenings always cool down, desert conditions, but sometimes there are those hot days when there is no breeze what so ever, day or night.  Then I suffer.....

I'm not a fan of the AC unless I stay in it during a heat wave.  Too much AC plays havoc with my sinuses.  Either I stay in cool temps or I have to bake with the rest (makes Annette a very unhappy girl  >:( ).

So when I whine about the heat here it basically tells you what a chicken I am.  Cackle, cackle, bok-bok.   ::)
