Tea water?
«

So after the torrential rains that we have had (not unusual) my water, though clear, is still tea colored. I have not used anything, but would like to know your first pick for how to get the brown out...thanks!

If you are asking what causes tea colored water my first thought is that the problem is leaching from potted water plants that used a commercial potting soil mix for terrestrial plants. Replacing with good topsoil from your garden will resolve the tea colored water if the problem is cause my leaching as I described.

Oak leaves did it to mine. But eventually it was gone. Try a 10% water change and see if it helps. Otherwise I've heard that charcoal helps but I don't know if I want to buy that much.

With spring in the air did you by chance mulch around it? If so most of the mulch has a color additive and it might be leaching with the heavy rains more than it would under normal circumstances. Cure for this would be time.

Peat moss, leaves, mulch, acorns, commercial potting soil, they can also cause this. It won't hurt anything. Just leave it alone. Messing with it is likely to do more harm than good. Think of it as some camo to help hide the fish from bird flyovers.
