More Plant Pix...
« on: August 02, 2009, 08:27:29 AM »
Let me introduce: Roscoea purpurea, it's a ginger relative and very hardy here,
about 18" tall and will bloom for at least a month. Likes dappled shade, or morning sun, afternoon shade.
Blooms are about 3" tall.

Red Castor Bean in bloom

Butterfly Weed

Fern and Moss Fountain

Foliage next to the fountain

Silk Stockings Sagittaria

Thanks for looking!  8)

I really like that moss fountain, what a great idea.  It's a beautiful pot as well.

Where to start!  I love the fountain, the Silk Stockings are FABULOUS!  And the ginger relative reminds me of Iris a bit.  Are they scented?  Iris were my favorite flowers most of my life until the dreaded borer found me.  Now I have no Iris until I find ones I like that are resistant.  :'(  This could be a nice substitute.

I like them all, especially the gingers.  I'm often amused at some beautiful plants that have been saddled with a common name referring to them as a weed.

Thanks everyone!  :)

Katfish, I'll go stick my nose in the Roscoea bloom as soon as it stops raining.
I betcha since it's a ginger, they're fragrant! 8)

There's a very light scent to the Roscoea in the morning...might be more fragrant at night.

I'll have lots of Silk Stockings to trade next spring.  8)
