I love my new Wakin!
« on: May 14, 2009, 07:47:02 PM »
Fresh out of the box a couple of hours ago. I'm excited to add them to my small pond, they are beauties. These are from Tracey Shafer at LadyFishWakin.com. Thanks, Tracy! Here's hoping I get better at fishtogrophy!

You compare that picture with what they look like after a month in your pond. You will be amazed at the color changes the sun and good pond water & good food will bring out. Then you will understand what I mean about them being under grow lights all winter. :P

I know what you mean, Knight! I have a 4x3x1 90 gallon square pond and I'm looking for a good home for three sarassa that are like owning weapons of mass destruction at 6 -7 inches. *I chose wakin because I was told they aren't aggressive with plants, and I have some water lilies that I want to put in there when they have filled out more. These goldies are shredding the floating heart I put in there since they are all in the moood for luv! I'll cry tears when I give them away, I love them, but they need something bigger.

Good luck on your fish hunt!

*Fact, or fiction? Tell me!

Fact!! I have most of them in a huge pond with a dozen waterlilys!! The regular comets & shubunkins keep uprooting my plants in the front pond.

I have a water lily but the fish don’t damage it much.
What they do is graze on the roots of the water hyacinth. I haven’t gotten flowers in years. It seems to keep them happy so I don t mind. I grow a few in a bucket then toss them in the pond.
