What is powerpoint
« on: September 05, 2009, 05:56:53 PM »
I googled it, and see its a type of slide show.  My pc had microsoft 2003, which expired long ago.  Now, it has microsoft 2002.  If you know anything about this and can send me in the right direction on which microsoft to update to etc, (trying to keep price down, until dh gets a regular paycheck, almost there) but my son needs it for a school project.

Thanks
Kim

Powerpoint is free from Microsoft. Just go to the M-soft site and download it from there. It's great to have to watch power point presentations that people send you also  :).

I may have misunderstood if you want either Power Point viewer or the actual Power Point program that you can use to make presentations with. The power point viewer is the one that is free that allows you to watch power point presentations that you can find on the net or that others send you. The actual power point program costs big bucks but if you switch to Open Office (free to download)which is great and comparable to Microsoft Office it has a program called Impress (free) that is comparable or better than Power Point.

There are different versions of Power Point viewer for free...............2003, 2007. I think I sent you the 2007 version and you may need the 2003 version :

Since your son is in school, you can get the entire suite for a great price:  59.95... (compared to others)

http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/theultimatesteal-us/default.aspx

There is a 60 day free trial available here:
http://us20.trymicrosoftoffice.com/default.aspx

A lot of teachers may not accept the free version (I don't in my college classes) but some might. Tons of resources out there according to what you want to know about PowerPoint.

If you are looking for tutorials, I send my students here all the time:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/training/CR100654571033.aspx

They do have training available for Microsoft Office Products.
