Irritated at Citibank
« on: August 23, 2009, 03:10:25 PM »
A few weeks ago the fetching one received a call from Citibank questioning a credit card transaction for about $2,000.  Citibank said someone was attempting to charge an airline flight to our account but they were unable to verify the correct expiration date.  My wife told them it was not us.  She was told they had denied the charge and they would cancel our account and issue new cards and accounts.  We checked the account on-line for recent activity and everything was okay.

Today I received a note from Quicken that they could not access the Citibank account.  I went in and fixed it adding the new account information.  I also went back into our Citibank account and saw it now showed the $2,000 charge for airline tickets from Chile to Britain, thus my irritation.  Why would Citibank authorize the charge after calling us to advise someone could not verify the expiration date?

When we received the new credit cards they also sent us a form to report any fraudulent activity.  I'm glad I didn't toss it.  We have now completed the form and mailed it off.

Oh I know the feeling. Magazine companies are the worst of all. We started receiving "Essence" magazine and neither one of us are a black female, allthough I do like looking at black females but that is another story. Since then we have been billed for "Shape" "Fitness" and one othe which we never ordered. They all reimbused us but you have to keep a close eye on the bank account.

We don't bank with Citibank but the fetching one uses one of their credit cards......some promotional thing as I recall.  I plan to call them and ask why they authorized the use of the card when the person using our account number could not accurately give the correct date of expiration.  Is Citibank one that we bailed out?  I plan to pay off the card and close the account.

My least favourite credit card too. They just put my interest rate up, unlike the others that keep my rate low - I don't have a ton of money, but have excellent credit - a FICO over 800, so I was irritated that the rate was raised because "the cost of doing business is going up".
The monthly statements are on cheap paper with blurry print, and they give you all of three point two days to get your payment in, or you are late.
I'm also planning on being an ex-customer.

Cheers,

Mike

PS - I am so looking forward to my trip to the UK from Chile later this year, and found an incredible deal on airfare - I don't have to pay anything! Thanks Mikey

lol lol lol MikeW you are soooo in trouble!  ;D  Best to quit the card than to be troubled I say.  The only problem is your credit rating will go down for canceling.  AND YES we did bail them out!  Best you also charge THEM interest!

Why in the he$$ should anyone's rates go up because THEY don't know how to do business?  This has been my question all along--it's just WAAAAYYY too simple.  >:(

I can top that, Bullfrog... About two years ago, I started receiving - totally free - a subscription to a gay men's porno magazine.   :o  And no one in my household is gay or male or interested.   ::)

I got the magazine for several months, recycling it amongst a group of friends who is so inclinded.  One guy really liked the magazine, so he contacted the company and requested a change-of-address.  Now the magazine comes to his house.  And there's still no charge!  O0
