Good news for Barbaro
« on: August 13, 2006, 09:28:22 AM »
During the coverage of the Arlington Million yesterday they said that Barbaro was doing so well they took him outside to walk and graze on grass. This is huge, he has been in the intensive care stall since the third weekend in May.

I am so glad to hear that!  After that infection set in it wasn't looking good for him.

Oh good. The last thing I heard, I remember thinking that it sounded like they were going to have to put him down. I hope he continues to improve.

That sounds like a positive improvement. However, he could still suffer from bouts of the laminitis from time to time. Just depends on whether or not he can support his weight on all fours. If he favors the bad leg, he will continue to have problems in the others. He'll do well for awhile and then have problems again. They will have to work him through it and then he will be fine again for quite awhile. Its a constant, never-ending cycle. Been there, done that.
