Side yards are often an eyesore, mine too. The Cast Iron plants, Aspidistra was ratty as heck.

I have propagated a ton of Mother-in-law's tongue over the years.  They are happy with very low light.  I spent the morning pulling  the Aspidistra and planting Sanseverria.

Almost there....

Oh yea, lots of compost was harvested.

JW  they were probably Washingtonia. LAs signature tree.  They are weeds in my yard than ks to a stand to the west of me.  They may be California's ONLY native palm  Not tropical at all
when we party here bring a pot.

Around 10 years ago I threw  my snake plant that I had growing indoors for as many years out in the corner of the garden not expecting anything.  The plant has now grown and looks better outside than it ever did inside.

Those palms grow from seeds birds drop in my yard.   >:(-  If I don't find them in time they grow a couple of feet and I have to pull out all the artillery to destroy them.  :boxing:

Oh you guys w/ your palm trees................I just love them to death but I can only grow the Chinese Windmill ones up here outside and I am so glad for that at least  @O@. I'm not gonna let these little babies die if I can help it and maybe someday when I'm traveling down south I'll be like Johnny Appleseed and plant them as I go. Jerry did you say when we party bring some pot?  lol I don't do that anymore since the 60's  8).

What you can't see to the left is a real mess still.  Wood, ladders, cans. Round-Up and just junk!
