It's been so long since I retired from the bank, I don't remember any but I'm sure some funny things happened.
There are gobs of wierd "stickup" stories that were silly and dumb. One being where the guy wrote his stickup note on the back of a pay stub. Sure enough it had his SS# on it and place of employment. Another one used the back of his imprinted deposit slip.
The one that happened at our branch had a guy jumping over the counter and stuffing his pockets with money and running across the parking lot with money falling out. The police were called and on the way to the branch, down the street, they spot a stopped car in the driving lane. Police notice the resemblence to the "getaway" car so stop. Turns out the car had run out of gas about a half mile away from the bank. Also turns out the money was stashed under the hood that was up to warn they had car trouble. Also turns out the driver was wanted for murder.
Our branch had a night deposit around back of the branch. From the outside it looks like a metal plate with a slot for the deposit of envelopes and below that a larger opening with a hinged door over it. It was installed on a brick building and attached to a vault inside that was maybe 5' x 5' x 3'. Of course it was all boxed around nicely with wood and drywall, probably inbedded in the cement floor. In the night some idiot backed up to it, put a chain around the handle of the door and around his bumper and began to pull. His bumper came off and made a horendous clatter that woke up the people in the house on the other side of the parking lot. When they turned on the light in the house, the car drove away leaving the bumper with the license plate on it.
