Who's dumber, the koi or me?
« on: September 15, 2009, 06:19:46 PM »
So after my grass was laid today they were messing with the electrical for the pond.  DH had taken out the basket to the skimmer and laid it on the side (I don't know why). I happened to go out just as they were turning the pump back on, I looked over and one of the koi had got sucked into the skimmer hole! His whole nose was stuck in it, I immediately tried to pull him out, but he was too slippery, DH ran and turned off the pump and I was then able to pull him out. His whole nose is pink now.  He's swimming fine and doesn't really act like he's hurt.  Do you think he'll be okay?

It will be fine. I opened the drain on my koi tank one day and one got sucked down in there. Not knowing, I shoved a 1/4" stainless steel wire up in there to see what was blocking the drain. I eventually took the end off to find the freshly dead koi, thanks to me. Another one went down the drain but it wasn't hurt very bad and it lived.
Happy ponding,

If you think that your question is dumb, imagine how totally stupid you will look if you don't ask it.

He's doing fine today, swimming around like always.   o(  Although, his nose is still a little pink!
