It's not like I'm *adverse* to water, but every time I get into a project with Savannah, I seem to spend a lot of time getting wet.
Or muddy.
Or wet and muddy and mosquito-bit.
Yesterday we splashed the sculpture, and Savannah was wearing this outrageous dress, so I got the job of getting wet. Today, I needed her on the bank handing me stuff to stabilize the tail... so into the water I went yet again.
And of course, it rained buckets while we were playing with weights and balances... so everything on top of the water was just as soaked as my underwater parts.
But all floats level, and the issue with the tail is finally handled, so it was worth it.
The sculpture really is neat when you see it live and installed. I keep looking at the other ones and going "naw... I like Savannah's better". Funny thing: many of the other entrants are card-carrying artists with studios, shops and galleries. Savannah is just this chick who got a burr under her nether-regions and decided to convert $300 worth of foam into a mythical horse. No real plan... just "grab the hotknife and remove everything that doesn't look like a horse". Not kidding. And it WORKS! The real test happened yesterday when a school bus pulls-up and a gaggle of young girls piles-out to preview the "Art On Water" exhibit. They made a beeline for Savannah's horse sculpture.
Little girls and horses! It was actually quite gratifying.
BTW: All my Nerdian waterworks got kibashed.
The reflecting pool is a "no-wake" zone. Oops. So I've got this water-proof, neutrally-bouyant battery pack with something like 300 amp/hours of 12v power and 4 pumps ready to roll if anyone is needing it.
Oy.
