booted when clicking on search results.....
« on: November 19, 2006, 08:45:04 AM »
Hi Everyone,
I use AOL ( :-\ I know....old habits die hard) and when doing a search the results come up but as soon as I click on one of the search results links I get booted off  >:(-  and then AOL automatically gets me back on without putting in my password. I also have firefox which I use rarely but I got right on the results of my search on that site. Is there a setting I need to change for aol? Thanks  o( , Kareen

Kareen.....I've been having the same problem with AOL.  I thought it was just my computer, so I cleaned everything out today and started fresh.  It still happened, then I saw your post.  I'm getting so tired of AOL, but I just recently did the bell south and aol with DSL, and I'm stuck still spring time.  Don't want to pay a penlty, but I think when that time comes, I'm going to change.  Just hate to, I've had my screen name for over 9 years.

Thanks everyone  o(:-) . I spoke with someone at AOL who told me to uninstall AOL and re install which I did. Couldn't get back on with my normal screen name though and lost all of my favorites etc. I uninstalled again and used another aol reinstall disc and now things are back to normal. It was a long day on the computer !! Ky Kim, I am not at all computer savey but I do have foxfire on mine and was able to at least get out on the internet with that while the aol was down . I could then get into my aol mail etc thru them. even when I couldn't get out on explorer I too am getting extremely frustrated &-) with AOL. Kareen

I've called them twice now.  They've had me change a couple settings.  I can come to the forum, play some pogo games, and yahoo games no problem.  I was trying to look up some receipes, and I got so fired up.  I could click on one link, look at it.  Exit it, and here we go....Goodbye, Welcome.....and it repeats this until I reboot the computer.  Then I can look up one again, and it starts all over.  I'm tired tonight, and I'm still have a couple things to bake to take with me tomorrow.  I really needed to look something up tonight, someone gave me a lemon cake receipe, and wrote it from memory.  When I made the batter, to me it looked like something had been left out.  With frusturation with getting booted, I went ahead and made it.  Looks alright, guess the real test will be tomorrow when we taste it.

I finally gave up with AOL trying to help me.  I lost all my pics I had on the computer, redoing everything.  I didn't put them on a disc, oh well....it was a good clean out.  My dh noticed that the modem the plug was loose, after that everything has been fine.
