A new orchid
« on: December 15, 2006, 10:39:42 PM »
Pete went out to buy an orchid as a gift for one of our son's workers and he came home with two lovely plants, this one was for me. It's a very dark purple and smells wonderful.

I hope this photo doesn't disappear like the others have lately. This is a test.

It's a gorgeous photo Maryvonne.

I did have to refresh several times to see the photo. I believe it is a linking problem with pbase.com.

Cheers,
Sean

Thanks Sean,
I'm thinking that's the problem too. I will go back to using Photobucket to link my photos here. It use to work for me.

Hi Joyce,
This is an award winning Cattleya, but the tag was lost on the way home. We buy our orchids from a lady at the local swap meet. She has a large wholesale business close to here and also sells them at the swap meet on Sundays. We have bought so many of her plants that she's invited us out to see her greenhouse, something I plan to do in the new year. I will of course take my camera with me.
Pete has gone back this morning to buy another plant and he will hopefully remember to get this one's name.
My orchids are doing well this year, but not spiking as well as I would like. We had such an odd fall this year. It was warm until late October and literally turned cold overnight. We went from lovely warm fall temps to freezing and snow in one week. I had to bring the orchids in before they got their cold spell. I have them in the unheated basement sunroom so hopefully they will still bloom, maybe just a bit later than usual.
I enjoy seeing yours blooming so nicely.

Thanks Sheila,
I have reloaded the photo using photobucket. Hopefully that will work better.

Hi Mayvonne:

Beautiful Orchid!  I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday.  Unfortunatley, we will be going to Mount Tremblant this year, but hopefully we will go back to Whistler next year.  Are you and Peter still in the process of moving to the island?

Cheers,

Gary

Thanks every one. Pete always brings one home for me. I'm spoilt that way.
Gary, we are still in the process of moving to the Island. We hope to be there this time next year, but if we are still here and you end up going to Whistler next year do drop in. We would love to see you and your family again. If not you will have an excuse to come to the Island. Have a nice holidaly at Mt. Tremblant.
