That's pretty darn cute! did you let him go, or try to relocate him?

I cant remember where I found him but I put him in a pond that is in need of repair in the valley and he can live there until I rebuild it.
I do try to relocate snappers from my lily ponds but I have one big one that I see every year but I can never catch him. One of these days I'll get lucky and get my hands on him and I'll take him to the river or eat him.  I love turtles so much I have a hard time killing even a snapper for food. But boy they sure taste good.

I think turtles are fascinating and am in favor of just basically leaving them alone.  But if I was in my pond the way you are in yours Mike...barefoot and swimming around lillies, I would be petrified of getting bitten by a snapper.  We've 'jugged' snappers that weighed 35 pounds and found mallard ducks we thought were "tipping" only to find they had been beheaded by snapping turtles when they tried to... :o

Snappers are cute when they are young, both common and alligator. I've had babies of both.
Happy ponding,
