Inspired by TM's cute or ugly....
« on: February 12, 2010, 05:15:01 PM »
No, it's not my picture...

As beautiful as people tell me Rocky is, many probably don't know or realize what a baby Umbrella Cockatoo looks like.  I don't have pics of Rocky as a baby, but here are some pics of a baby U2.

Did you know....that most parrots reach full size within the first 9 months, and basically stay that size for the rest of their lives?

Talk about a funny looking bird!
I'm broke and can't afford to pay attention, so you might have to lend me an ear.

Awwww. I've never had a cockatoo or any bird that large but my son had one when he lived in my basement. My mom had canaries a lot when I was a kid. Other than the mess, I like them. But I guess any of our kids (furry or not) cause messes to take care of.

They look like a fetus when they're that young. It's amazing that it lives. The mother must take good care of it.

"Space Aliens," is, I believe, the correct word.   :D

In another month, I will be going for Round Two of breeding my parakeets, so I'll have a whole nestbox full of similar-looking Space Aliens.
