Grow lotus from seed?
« on: March 27, 2010, 10:38:39 PM »
Anyone grow lotus from seed?  What percentage of your seed make it to blooming stage?
It is easy to germinate lotus seeds and start growing to about 5 to 8 leaves, then they slowly rot and die.

For me, about 1% of the seed make it and bloomed.  Anyone have the same problem....Thanks, Danny

Danny, my first three original lotus seeds that I started are still alive in the form of tubers. I've had them for 4-5 years but still hasn't bloomed. I think the ones that I started last year are also tubers this year. Those hasn't bloomed either.
Happy ponding,

If you think that your question is dumb, imagine how totally stupid you will look if you don't ask it.

Scott,

Your lotus from seeds didn't bloom 4-5 years?  I have some named lotus didn't bloom for about 2-4 years.  Maybe not enough sun light?   However, my lotus from seed bloomed in about 6-8 month.  Unknown pink lotus photo from 2008 and 2009.
