So - who can make it for dinner?
« on: March 17, 2010, 06:24:30 PM »
Jerry is making a pilgrimage to Texas. Carlos will show him Central Texas. Julles will show him East/Gulf Coast Texas. And I'm gonna show him how to cook.  @O@

The planned bbq is May 01.

I have been known to invite more people to dinner than I have chairs. Which is okay - as long as I don't run out of plates. Or maybe not. People have been known to share plates.  :o

Its not too early to start planning... so if you email me, I'll make sure you have a chair.
All redheads that don't email me will have to sit on Roark's lap.  8-)~
Except the men.

Is there an age and weight limit?  Guess I'm out anyway as I don't have red hair.

Me.

I'm bringing beer (hopefully a seasonal variety) for Roark, my Famous Big Fat Greek Salad, red peppers to throw on the grill, Sunbeam's trash can, and...

Sunbeam, what was that brand of white wine we had the last time I was down there?  A chardonay, and really good, not expensive... Do you remember the brand?

I'd love to be there if my wife and I were in much better shape financially. We've never been to Texas and I would love to meet Sunbeam and Roark. Oh, and I love wine! ;D
Happy ponding,

8-)~  I've been in central Texas for nearly 3 weeks already.  I'd love to come, but I think I'll probably have to go back to the panhandle before then.

I live 80 miles north of Amarillo.  They have snow this morning.

Mother had open heart surgery on March 10th and I'll be here until about the first of May probably.

Jerry,

Ben Franklin is reputed as having said, "Beer is proof that god loves us", but he likely did not.  Rather, according to a letter he wrote to Abbé Morellet in 1779, he actually wrote "We hear of the conversion of water into wine at the marriage in Cana as of a miracle. But this conversion is, through the goodness of God, made every day before our eyes. Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards; there it enters the roots of the vines, to be changed into wine; a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy. The miracle in question was only performed to hasten the operation, under circumstances of present necessity, which required it."
So drink the wine, if Ben 's opinion is of import to you, or ignore Ben and imbibe the beer!

Ben has always been my hero, not only was he a statesman but was a great lover in France.
We were neighbors!  Really!  I grew up across the street from his grave.
Carpets used to come with a bamboo pole in side, It's cardboard today. I, we would put gum on the end of the pole and filch coins from Franklin's grave.  I always felt he would be pleased!

Chocolate is on the calendar. How many people do you think you'll have? If I ship with a Priority box, it should be there in 3 days so I should ship on Tuesday?? Is that early enough? I don't want it to get stale.

Karen, it gives me a reason to mess with chocolate, lick the spoon when I'm done, wipe up spills from the counter with my finger---uhhuh and lick my finger. I really don't eat many chocolates but sure do some licking this and that before it gets washed. LOL.

I didn't know chocolate COULD go stale... Roark and I have been passing back and forth one of the two pound Hershey kisses for several years now.  :o Never has been opened.
Makes a great present for those gifting days everyone forgets about.... Secretary Day (Roark puts on a push up and shaves his legs)... Bosses day (Roark brings a fifth of whiskey to work and points at projects that need doing - oh, wait - is that any different than most days? ) ... San Jacinto Day (needs no explanation)... etc.

I am so thrilled that Jerry is visiting.  @O@
So far only about 20 people threatening to come... I have that many chairs, so we are good.
That's a smallish party for our standards, but it will be cozy.  o(:-)

We will have to do a Southeastern meet when Tonya and her fiancee and my wife and I get places of our own and get settled in. I know that there are three members here in Alabama and a few in Georgia and Florida. Of course, we could include Tinsster as well. :)
Happy ponding,
