Pond demolition
« on: June 04, 2010, 06:57:34 PM »
For the past two years I have talked about tearing down my decorative pond and re-designing it, with the help of my sons. This week while I was on vacation, my wife had my youngest son start working on the project. First, the deconstruction. Where the blocks are was the waterfall, and the patio and stones around the pond are now gone, as well as the fence behind the other side of the pond. I am getting the fish and plants out tomorrow. @O@

That makes me cringe! I am going to be doing this shortly.... I need to order the rubber liner (roof) and a bottom drain... Buy more PVC, ARGHH!! And, even get more rock. Which will take a lot of carrying from a creek to a truck to my pond... that will be the last thing I do..

Good luck!!!

That's a decent sized pond.  What is it that you are going to be changing?

;D Esther, just bring your truck.  ;D
We are going to make it bigger by adding an additional pond and waterfall, going to bring in some big boulders for the backdrop and waterfall, and put in a bio filter. And who knows what else. the current one has been there for 9 years, so it is time to do a makeover. I am excited!

Holy moly!  You are doing it in this crazy heat and humidity?   ;D  That sure looks like a big chore.  I'm sure once you have it reconstructed that it will look mighty nice!   @O@ :)

The plants have been removed and moved to another pond that is mud-bottomed. The fish have also been relocated to two other ponds. The rest of the stone has been taken away from the pond, and the liner has been removed.  @O@  Next step? Getting a skid loader to dig out for the addition. This pond was 12 X 20 and 32 inches deep. Haven't decided for sure how big it will be when finished. We shall see! ;D

We have the stone ready, but have been waiting on the repair of the skid loader. It is supposed to be ready by tomorrow or Wednesday, so hopefully it will be tomorrow. I am excited about getting it done. Will update when skid loader work is complete.
