Baby watonai goldfish
« on: July 09, 2008, 03:00:41 PM »
Steve in Hawaii was very nice to let me know that these fish I bought locally are actually watonai.  They spawned several times & I was able to save quite a few of them.  Next year I'm hoping the watonai I bought from Steve will breed with my original group.  The fry are about 1" long.  I've already caught a few toby ones that are about 2" & put them in with the adults.  I'm going to have extras, so if anyone in the Dallas area is interested in donating to pay for fish food expenses in raising them, let me know when you want to come pick some up.  (I've also got plenty of sarassas, shubunkins, & comet fry to give away.)

Hi Kat,

I definitely want some of your watonai fry!  I'm up by OKC.  I'm working on getting a friend of mine from Dallas to get with you to pick some up for me.  I want to end up breeding them with my calico fantail Beau, so I'd like at least 6 to try to make sure I get a female.

I'm hoping I'll get some hardier fantails out of the mix as well as more watonai, hopefully calicos.  Here's the thread on it.

Thanks,
Betty

Excellent.  She says she will (I'll drive down and pick them up next weekend).  Should I have her PM you?

PM is fine.  Keep in mind that these are only about 1" right now.

Glad you got home with all of your fish safe & sound.  Thanks & hope they color up the way you want them to.

The 2 red caps are fine & the orange comet can be seen at feeding time.  The red caps hustle pretty good to get the food, LOL.
