Is this N.minuta ? Pls help to ID.
« on: July 27, 2010, 04:56:00 AM »
In January I started 11 different seeds in different cups but during their transferring from indoors to outdoor kiddie pond all the tags were fallen because of my inattention.
There were only 3 whites (assuming the suppliers labels were correct):
-Marliacea Albida
-White night Juno
-N.minuta (from Scott)

This  “Day bloomer” has bloomed and there are 2 more buds on the way.
First and second day pictures and the leave is below. The flower full open, tip to tip diameter is 2.15".

Would be great if some one can ID. Thanks.

That definitely isn't N. minuta. N. minuta is pink. What were the other 10 seeds? Maybe it can be identified by one of those.
Happy ponding,

If you think that your question is dumb, imagine how totally stupid you will look if you don't ask it.

Thanks, seems the sender labeling was wrong.
The others were;

-Perry's baby red
-Perry's dwarf red
-Red capensis
-Pink capensis
-Dark blue capensis
-Blue egypt caerulea
-Flare red night
-Yellow eldorado

I was happy to see one blooming from seeds, in so short time. The pots are lying under shallow water abt 2 inches over the pot soil.
Hope the above gives you some clue. Thanking again.

Most of them has floating leaves but no blooms yet.

The issue will be that many of what you got as seed are hybrids and will not come true from seed. The capensis and caerulea are species lilies that should come true, however capensis is variable in color form even though it is a species lily.

Sean, this information was available somewhere in my mind but I believe it was veiled by the excitement of having to see my first flower from seeds. Thanks for the voice of experience.
It will be joyful to see the come outs of the rest of the seeds.

The bloom is on it's fourth day and I noticed that the flower opens almost same time in the morning with the  hardies but stays open till 7 pm whereas my hardies close up around 4 pm.
Thanks to all.

Tugo, if I sent you seeds from Juno, that might be one of the resulting plants from that seed. Seeds don't produce exactly the same plant as the parent.

Thanks Scott. Will be exciting to wait for the other blooms to see what comes out. Any way I like all of them.
