That's an awesome storefront and a very nice photo!  We still have a couple of little groceries like that in the town where I grew up--but they can't keep up with the big food chains.  But the meat there and service are--WONDERFUL!!

Not a set, but from a newspaper supplement.
I used to wonder what Beech-Nut chewing tobacco was and was anxious to try it.
I was sick in a few seconds.  Beech Nut sounded so very good.

Jerry...if we are talking about our past.  I grew up in the piney woods of east texas.  My grandfather on my Mother's side was Arthur Bell.  He worked for Pickering Lumber Company...http://www.shelbycountytexashistory.org/Familypictures/pickeringlumber.htm is a post of some of their history. I'm also posting a picture of him with logs harvested in the virgin forest that "was" Shelby County. He is to the left in the hat.

Love those old photos. We have a Fam pic of my DH"S GF & Gm standing in front of their bakery in NYC circa 1914.in the pic are babes in arms, his  Dad and uncle(they were twins). They were from Czekoslavakia. Sp?

Jerry...about the Beechnut...the icon should be a kid laying on the ground with the sky spinning.  At least that was my experience

nice pix ,i appreciate your sharing . we also have some old pix but so old they mean little to me and nothing -zero- to my kids . my dad was born in 1892 and mom in 1898 . they are dead and all my brothers and sister died in last couple years so i'm oldest left and unfortunately didn't pay enough attention if the old pix were ever explained to me . pix will probably end up in a garage sale in a few years .

Having someone do a family history is important I feel.  My elders are working on it.
None of us ever saw a Grandparent :'(

Too long of a story to tell but I was raised by foster parents and never knew any family history until my wife started tracking down our genealogy about 10 years ago and it paid off in that she was able to find family on my father's side living on the east coast and the south.  We still lack information on my mother's side.  She regrets that she didn't start looking into her genealogy sooner when her parents were alive and healthy.
