finally done---the new pond....
« on: October 11, 2010, 02:07:38 PM »
Yes finally got them and their existing filtration moved over to the new pond on Saturday...We still have a few tweaking to do on the returns to the pond and some rock work but, it is fully functional....5' deep near the bottom drain with air and 4'6" near the other bottom drain...between the pond and the filtration it holds 6,000 gallons...a few pics for you guys....I sure hope they like their new home---I'm soooo sore right now --wore out and dog tired.....the table is so they have a hiding hole until they get used to their new pond....wow a proper koi pond takes alot more planning and prep than just digging a hole and throwing in a pump and liner...but, well worth it...

Awesome!!! Are you running your new sequence pump(s)? Have any photos of the plumbing/construction phase? I need to put a sprinkler box in the ground between my skimmer and waterfall and am researching how others have done it.

We have been trying to figure out some type of way of covering the pump up too...never thought of using a sprinkler box--I'll have to check that out....I have a friend who has his totally uncovered but, that just doesn't look like its good at all for the pump  :(
the only problem I'm having is with the air coming from the bd and the skimmer--they are too close and the air is pushing all the leaves into the corner of the pond instead of into the skimmer  >:(-...I'm gonna try to lower the air flow coming thru to see if it helps--if not--we will have to move the skimmer to that corner.....

Wow this will keep the fish healthy. Cannot wait to see it completely finished. Your fish are beautiful. You are leaving it covered for the winter? I think it would be a good idea.

Vickie by the time I ordered a net at this point--the leaves are falling allready and the trees are already about 50% bare....I figure I'd get the net too late to catch any of the leaves...I am leaving the shade cloth up on the sides--Just to make sure no one jumps out or since it soo deep that the dogs or cats don't fall in...

I cut down a plastic barrel for a pump cover.  Added a few slots to accomodate pipes.  Works well for 4 years now

Looks great. I do have one question, where is the diving board?

Ponds are like patato chips, ya just can't have one.
