Sounds of spring!
« on: February 25, 2011, 06:21:42 PM »
The sound of the first frog singing came ringing out from the greenhouse as I went to put wood in the woodstove. The frogs will soon all be singing out calling for mates, and spring will have arrived!

I was doing some small water changes the other afternoon and heard a frog.  There was a thin film of ice on the tanks again this morning.

Lucky you, can't wait to hear the first spring peeper.  The birds are sure singing every morning....even in the snow!

UPDATE:      I heard my first peepers this afternoon.  An old weatherlore is that the spring peepers have to freeze out (quit calling) three times, then Spring is here to stay.  I have always made notice of this and its usually right on.  O0 We are having a thunderstorm this evening, 63 degrees out and its almost midnight...........sure feels like Spring.  @O@

Shoot, we've had tree frogs croaking ever since the first day of February.   ;D
Happy ponding,
