Torn meniscus yet again! A QUANTUM LEAP!!
« on: May 29, 2011, 08:48:56 AM »
I manage to get hurt at the YMCA.  The thing is the exercise I do is easy. I never even sweat.
The Dr. did say to be modest with working out, and I am, VERY. >:(-
I am stuck until Tuesday because of memorial day.

Yeah this is a self diagnosis because everything seems the same.  It hurts more this time. :'(

I have an audition for a Mercedes Commercial on Tuesday. It is close to the DR.  I will make it!

I don't know where I read this, but it said that a meniscus tear really never goes away.  I'm sure your doctor has talked to you and you have searched it on the internet, but exercising is not what you need to be doing when you are still experiencing pain in your knee.   :o

I think I tore mine this winter when I stepped off the front step into snow and ice and twisted my knee on the way to the ground.  Left some butt prints in the snow too.   lol  It was funny, fortunately for me no one saw it--but it sure hurt like heck.  Still does when I do certain things.

Did your doctor have you doing any type of physical therapy to strengthen your other leg muscles?

I tore my right medial meniscus FEB 2002.  I standing in my yard and turned, except my right foot did not pivot on the grass.  I felt a pop, but no pain.  A week later, intense pain.

MRI showed slight tear; dr. sent me for physical therapy.  The knee was OK until two years ago and I had to have surgery to shave down the tear.

Yes, he did say to do the bike for 15 minutes only, little resistance.  I, of course, thinking I'm 25 did more. NEVER EVER again. It hurts in bed!  I see him Tuesday. if I haven't learned by now It's hopeless. {nono}
I did therapy last time and it seemed to work fine.  I will do nothing until I get the professional diagnosis,.
Yes LuAnn the therapy was to strengthen leg muscles.  23 years of league basketball should have done enough id think.  I have cockeyed foot on that leg, maybe it is the cause?  I got it as a breech birth!
Gary, I may be in for the shaving as you said
.
Now to get a neighbor to clean my leaf basket.  No way can I get on my knees to do it.

I feel for you Jerry.   All I could do was look out the window at my pond most of last summer.  Hope you heal fast.

I'm sorry Jerry.  There's nothing as frustrating as having someone else do the things that you love doing yourself--for whatever reason!  Praying for healing for you and patience for Elaine.... ::)   ;)

Thank you ALL for the kind words. I will know more Tuesday.   I will be happy with easy sleeping!.
Elaine did say thet the Dr. said 15 minuts on the bike low resistance.
I got carried away watching Home & Garden Channel. 30 minutes is a no no.  I love those building shows.

A knee injury kept me from any pond work from early July on last season.  This is hoping your recover is faster and smoother.

Oh Jerry!  Sorry your knee is having problems again.  Live and sort of learn.  {:-P;;

:( :(Unfortunately I know how you feel.  I'm having knee problems brought on by new back problems.  I go to PT now and seriously think the routine they put me through is too easy until I finish an hour of it.  Then I'm so sore!  I hate being so inconvenienced by a bum knee, bum back and bum bum.

yes Annette. it is one big time inconvenience, but it will pass.  The timing stinks.  We have been having long lost relatives for a few weeks now.  I take them sightseeing, but tell them "Go see I will wait here on this nice bench!"
When I'm better I will be exemplary!  So help me!

Jerry, that's great news indeed!   @O@  Now, will you pleaseeeee take it easy for a while so your leg/knee can heal?   {:-P;;  Don't do anything but sit and relax by the pond.  May be you will be able to clean the leave basket sooner if you listen to the Dr.   :P

I got a neighbor to change the basket (having 2 is handy)  I did the priming pot myself!  It was not a problem.  I think a second priming pot is in order.
Oh, found one dead Goldie there too.

Yes I take it easy.  The swelling is lessening, and I inadvertently start to do the stairs normally.
That means its doing well!
Hurt a lot more this time, but mending faster!
Oh. young teen girls hold the door open for me at the post office!  Cute!

Good to hear you are doing much better.  Are your "long-lost relatives" quite tall or is that just the camera perspective?  From their height, I'm assuming they are from your side.

They are tall.  The one on the Left is a large animal Vet in Hawaii. the other an attorney. in Michigan My Sister had 5 sons. the one on RT has a twin.
The guy sitting down . Hal,is in an assisted care facility near bye with his wife Alice. Both in 90s!
His father and mine were brothers...but wait. his Mother and mine were Sisters!  Though I call him Brother he is a double first cousin!
We do look alike.
the sweet boy is Alan's son by a second marriage.  My family marries Asian women!
Alice the wife asked me what Island we are on.  It gets sad as hell.  Otherwise she is cheerful and nice to be around.
Below is Alan's first son with his California bride Jessica,  he is a handsome devil and yes, surfs!
The gal below is a published poet in Tai Wan and get this, a Physicist!

I hijacked my own thread, but it's fun.  I will BBQ the Tri Tip Mikey style this week

Hardly!
Watch for a new film called either "Monday" of "Monday the Movie." I am an ICU Dr in that one.
Really fat too! :'(  I have about 5 lines!
It inspired me to lose 15.

I am still limping!

You are not fat haha. It's great that you are an actor though, that takes talent! I have been in all the school plays since Kindergarten and I really enjoy acting.

I auditioned for a student film even though I no longer do those.  Why?  Cause it was so funny and would take a few hours.
Guess what? I didn't get it!  So much for being cocky!
The knee is not improving.  May have to see the Dr again!
