Easy Cheezy DIY redneck filter for Scott
« on: June 02, 2011, 08:30:29 PM »
 {:-P;;
  I cut a cooler pad in half and zip tied to the hamper

  I put a brick in the bottom to hold the pump off the bottom of the tank

  I wrapped the pump in another pad and tucked in the flap

  I dropped the pump into the hamper

  I set the hamper into the tank

 And the best thing is...it acts as a skimmer also (no floating algae) ;D  I've even caught fry in the hamper

it goes from the filter to the skippy and back into the tank.

It is fairly easy to clean...lift it out, unwrap the pump, spray the pads off, rewrap the pump and set it back in the tank

That's a great idea & love how it will act as a skimmer, too.  O0 O0

I like how it acts like a skimmer!  How long can that basket last out in the water?

I might need to replace the pads before the summer is over, but the basket should last several years.
