Spring Peepers
« on: January 09, 2007, 07:55:58 AM »
These two hens are sharing a nest and have a combo of 20 eggs.  I hope they sort out who's is who's, 'cause they are starting to hatch.<g>

Oh how sweet!  I too was expecting a picture of frogs.  We used to have chickens, nothing better than farm fresh eggs.

Oh me too, thought it was early for frogs. That picture is adorable. We used to get a shipment of tiny baby chix every spring on the farm. I would go out to the nursery chicken house for hours and sit on the floor watching and holding the baby chix.

1500 gallon pond. Most residents are 11 yrs old. Most are Koi, with one 9 yr old bullhead catfish. Residents took a trip of one hr to their new home. We all moved to this home just over a yr ago. They love their new digs!

That is cute. It will be interesting to see how they divide up the chicks.

The only reason these eggs even got to hatch is that they are so small, they didn't seem to be worth collecting to eat.  I've seen pidgeon bigger than these biddy hens......which down the road will also save the chicks from becoming dinner.

The hens were given to me by a neighbor to serve esssentially as bait to test my newly fortified coop.  It seems at least for now I have foiled the predators, so will buy some decent laying hens.....my last ones all got eaten, hence the need for the test.<g>
