bumping old threads
« on: October 14, 2011, 06:16:12 AM »
Good Morning all-
I received an email from another member I guess after I bumped an old thread yesterday. This was a rude email and I'm probably going to cancel my membership here. I didn't realize that my personal email address could be seen and this email contained curse words and so forth and about me embarrassing myself etc. So is bumping of older threads frowned upon here? I think its a great way for newer members to see some awesome photos from the past.

I agree that looking at photos is a great way to see amazing ponds.

First of all let me say that I am sorry you got a rude email from a member here.

I agree that looking at old photos are an awesome way to see many amazing ponds.

I belong to a forum for grandparents where we have been asked to refrain from bumping old posts.

I can't see why bumping old threads would bother anyone, and I hope you don't cancel your membership here.  This site says that ALL are welcome, and that's what it means.  Of course people who are rude or mean, need to take a hike.  I imagine that you received that through an email because they didn't have the courage to post it in the thread.... >:(

Thanks!  Funny thing is...from the email address I can kind of figure out who it is because I've been searching through the forum for photos.  I've now made my email private...wish I would have known to do that before. :)

Exactly, kittyzee...they should have just messaged me here.

That's the other thing I was going to suggest (and forgot to say it.. ::)) was that I thought you could make your email private.  I hope you stay and enjoy the 'rest' of us!   8)

Jerry and Sean are wonderful moderators, and just great people.  They have to be to put up with all of us!!  Thanks Jerry!

You can't leave already.................you are our breath of fresh air.  :)

The forum has been so slow lately.  It's always that way at the end of the ponding season.  We need your fresh, enthusiastic posts.

My thoughts are that they didn't message you because they would have had to log-in and be "seen".  So sad, that people have to be so nasty.  Sorry it happened.

Karen

Thanks Karen!  I do really like this forum and it was just upsetting to receive that email my first week here but I'm realizing that it's not the norm.

Hope to get to know you all a little better! :)

Newpondgal,

You are so very welcome here. I got a copy of the email and the person who emailed you is NOT A MEMBER HERE

He was banned quite some time ago for obnoxious behavior and gross misinformation which he takes to other forums and totes on eBay. Actually I am quite surprised that someone who is so unwelcome on this forum, would spend so much time worrying about a forum they were banned from and thinking that toting more BS to new members would keep people away.

Yes, private email listings on your profile will prove to hide your email from leeches like this individual.

My name is Sean Stevens and I am a good person who continues to be slandered by this disgruntled former member.

Newpondgal, use your instincts, you will easily find that people who have been banned from this forum were for the benefit of our wonderful membership.

I know it is drawing close to the end of the ponding season for many, I do hope you stick around.

Cheers,
Sean

Newpondgal:
as you see you got the information right from the horse's mouths!
Id post some of that mail, but it is just too nasty for that.

What kills me is it's not even a member.

Hi NewPondgirl:

Again I think the site is a wealth of information, I'm sorry that you received a sick email.

Jerry, I'm actually happy its not a current member 8)

So not right!  As the wonderful members above have mentioned you are very welcomed here.  I'm very sorry you have experienced an act so so unwarranted.  I hope, too, that you'll not let a sour pickle ( ;) ) hurt your experience here.

I've only learned from and enjoyed so many members here at AP.  Newpondgal and and any other new members, you make this forum the fabulous place it is!

How can a banned pickle read or enter our site?  Unless of course he changes his ip address.  Hmmm.....Sorry you have to deal with the pickle, Sean.  You'be given us all an outlet to meet others with the same passion in ponding.  Thank you!  o(:-)

The posts on this thread show what a decent membership we have.
Me and Sean are proud of this.
