Looks like DOC, dissolved organic compounds.  Time for a water change.

Was in the 60s yesterday and today.  I dumped my skippy biofilter on the koi pond and wakin pond and did about 10% change. I try to do it all winter, love this weather.  Can't go wrong with water changes.

Water changes.  I started doing them after reading on AP about them, 10%-25% every Sunday.

Then came the terrible drought here in South Texas.  Trees are dying, farmers' crops and livestock are dying, watering restrictions are in effect.

I figured that if we can't wash our cars, or water lawns but for twice a week, I'd be wrong to do partial water changes in my pond every week.

So I've stopped for now, and haven't done a change since last spring.

{:-P;;  when we had water restrictions, I'd dip water out of the tanks to water the pots etc and top off the tanks.
