They are called Savannah! Said to be loyal like a dog and social. Will take to a leash and they like water!
It is a cross between an African Servel and a house cat. His is said to be partly from a Siamese

How large is her compared to your average house cat?

Gorgeous.

There is a house about a mile from us that has an attached enclosure for two of these. I always look for them when I pass by. They are usually laying up high on a shelf.

They are higher energy than a regular house cat I think, and like Karen said she sees a neighbors in an enclosure...a "catio" would be perfect for a cat like this who can be outside but protected from larger predators and you can protect smaller animals from the cat! It is beautiful and you know how I love cats, but even I don't have what it takes to own a cat like that!

Gorgeous kitty . My cousin has one that looks like that but he said it was called a Bengal cat . She loves water too & he takes her out on a leash .

The Bengal and Savannah are two different breeds, with different ancestors. The Savannah can weigh up to 25 lbs.! I hope your son realizes the commitment he has taken on in acquiring this beautiful cat because it's needs are much more than the average domestic cat. That really is one beautiful cat--any idea how old it is?

Bunny, I'm just interested in all thing 'cat', and I looked it up! But I saw a show once on the Serval cat, and they love to climb, jump and sit in trees and tall ledges. Bengals are very active too and if an owner gets one not knowing it takes a different kind of care than a domestic cat, it can wreak havoc on a household!

Nice video though Jerry, what a sweet cat to be so comfortable around children. Kids tend to be loud, a little rough and make sudden movements -- all things that can make a cat jumpy and nervous. This cat wasn't that way at all! Keep us posted on how your son is getting along with his new furkid!

I sure will. He like you , is a cat lover. I want to get down there soon. I have improved a lot, but not ready for his three level steps. Lots of 'em! He is on a hillside in Bluebird Canyon.

Mine rarely meow, unless they have "killed" one of their toys or can't find me. They chirp, squeak, click and clack their tongues when they see a fly, and purr. I love my cats.
