I cut mine back a week ago just before our first frost.  I still had buds on TMike's JTP lilies.

Nice!  This fall has been one of the nicest I can remember.  Got lots of work done in the yard.  Wednesday it was 60 degrees.  We haven't had so much as a snow flurry -- until last night!  Anyone want to come help me shovel the 8 inches of heavy, wet snow off my deck and drive.  It's still snowing heavily and radar shows at least a few more hours of snowfall.  We could end up with 10 to 12 inches for the first snow of the season.  >:(-  Greens plants, let alone beautiful blooms are a fading memory here in northern Illinois.

DPerry, I'm south of you, we only had maybe 3 inches that stuck. Was very heavy snow.

My wife and I grew up in Harvey.  My brother still lives there in the house where we grew up.  He taught chemistry at Thornton and my wife and I graduated there in 1961. We moved back to Harvey for a couple years after my stint in the Air Force and were in a small apartment just west of Halstead street on Sibley Blvd when we had the big snow in 1967.  Worked at Allis-Chalmers while I went to night school at Thornton Community College (now South Suburban).  We moved to Dekalb in 1968 to go to NIU.  Taught science for 30+ years and now live in Genoa, Illinois.  I go back to Harvey often to visit my brother, Alan.  Come summer, I'd like to stop and visit your pond sometime if that's OK.

Thanks everyone for the posts. We have below freezing temps at night for the last three nights, but it should be warming back up tomorrow. I have had some more blooms but they are not opening fully, or I am not here when they do open. Maybe I can get a pic or two tomorrow. I have had three blooms in the last few days.
