Some day I'd like to get a vivip with a spiffier flower.  When I saw the pads on this one, I let myself get my hopes up....then it bloomed and brought me back to earth.

C'est la vie.  It has cooled off a bit here....I don't think we were much over 90 today...so I still have time to try some other crosses.<g>

Seems so very typical of viviparous lilies doesn't it. They just don't measure up as spectacular in the characteristic department. Looks kinda like Lavender Lace with fabulous pads.

Sorry it didn't work out Craig. I too had my hopes up.

I was hoping for more of a hybridizing season as well but it has been rainy and cool the last couple weeks here and I am not seeing much action at all from the breeders in my pond.
Been seeing a great display from the sterile lilies though

Cooled off to 90, pity. it was in the upper 30's last night and never got over 65 today.

how long does it take you from sowing seed to first bloom?

It's the principle Lou....this is the first cold front to push through the area since probably late last April.  Not much cool area with it, but still a harbinger of harsher days to come where we barely reach the mid-70's.<g>

If I pay attention to them, I can pretty much count on two months from sprouted seed to first flower.

2 months, good grief, it takes me a full 9 months from seed to bloom and sometimes even longer. right now the outside temp is in the low 40's. pretty though with the leaves changing.

Hi Jerry, the pads are the lilies only saving grace!  If it wasn't for them, it never would have lived to see maturity.  Not sure they are enough to secure it a long, prosperous life, however.  It better make some nice offspring.<g>
