Canna Help! Please!

Ok guys, I bought a pkg of Crimson Beautys. I want to put a few in the pond and a few beside the pond. What is the best way to plant them? Holes, No holes.Dirt, Gravel? How deep in the water can they go? I sprayed 3 more tubs today so I'm ready for planting and deviding.
I'm just happier outside!

In the past I've just set them on the marginal shelf and covered with some rocks to hold steady, but I guess you could pot them and then put them in, it would make for easier removal in the fall, they do get good roots on them.

Thanks Marla, I know they can't stay out so I figured pots would be the easiest, just not sure whitch media to use?

I would start them growing outside of the pond...and then add them to the pond once they are growing...for some reason...putting the tubers directly into the pond has never worked well for me....and then I only put them either even with the water surface or slightly above the water surface...

Most cannas are not truly aquatic or bog plants, they just tolerate it well. You don't want to put them in the water until they are growing strongly.

Pot them in soil.

This is the first year that I took my canna and put them in a pot outside of the pond. They never really did all that good in the pond on a shelf.
