My Japanese Maples look pitiful now.......

I'm concerned about my Japanese Maples because the cold got them even though I covered them with sheets. :'(

I purchased a Crimson Queen last year along with an unknown weeping variety which I need to try to ID.  It's a red leaf weeping one which wasn't tagged which I got at Lowes.
2 weeks ago I planted a   Weeping Green Viridis and Orido Nishiki............

The leaves are really wilted..... should they get new leaves this year???

It should come back with no problems.  Just the tender young leaves got a little frost bit.  Suppose to be warming up a little with rain, so that will help.  Don't stress yet, it should be fine.

Wondering the same bonnie.. lowes has a red one with fringe leaves that I have my eye on but all the leaves are curled and brown now.  I keep waiting to see if they will mark it down seems nobody was buying them in this condition.

Nevertheless the maples should be able to throw out new leaves unless their second buds get the same treatment
Keep them protected as much as possible if another frost is forecast

The weather lately wouldn't be so terrible if we wouldn't have already experienced temp's in the high 70's to low 80's.

That is exactly the problem
Those higher temps have encouraged the maples to think it is time to waken up and GROW
And then they get hit with freezing temperatures
They are in a bit of shock now, and stressed
They can recover, however, if you leave them alone, except that if further frosts are forecast I think it would be wise to give them some protection
At least, that is what I would do
