It is native to most of North America. I collected these ones from a farmers field in Alberta many years ago. He was plowing new fields and these would have become compost had I not rescued them. There are some at my dad's old house and at his new house. I kept a couple clumps for myself. Hopefully one day they will naturalize once I get them in the ground.
