Jonna-
Your yard and pond are so pretty! The fish ARE jewels!
I'm afraid I may have lost every one of my roses in the Michigan cold. I had a gorgeous hedge of ballerina going, they were FINALLY getting to a mature height after 3 years and now the stems are totally black. I am giving them some time now that the weather is warming, but I'm afraid they are goners.

Have any of you noticed that fish are really hard to photograph?  lol

I chased one of our favorite Wakin, Hotlips Hoolihan, around the pond this morning.  I finally got a couple pics of her without her zooming off as I pushed the button or one of her siblings zooming in front of her.  She's all white now except for the circle on her tail and her hot, red lipstick.  Her caudal flash is silver and large, almost like a corset.  That didn't come out in the pics though.

-

Here's the pond as it is looking today.

Some of you may be interested in another way to hide a skippy.  We weren't trying to make the pond look natural so this was an easy solution. It's a 3.5 sided wall of concrete blocks with tiles on top and plaster painted like adobe.

I checked the water temp today, it's 65*.  Still too cold for me to get in it when it is only in the 80's outside.  I'm guessing the water temp is why there aren't any buds coming up from the lilies.

Jonna-
I love that pond with the decking around it! That looks so neat and clean. Pond looks so good. The skippy idea is a really good one, you would never know it's in there.

I have a hard time photographing my fish too. I have to throw food in and snap FAST! They never come out like the beautiful pics I see on the boards.
Angle of the sun causes me trouble too. I;ll ge t fish in the frame great and when I load it in the computer i find it' all reflections and glare.

setting the camera to sport/motion mode helps a lot.  Everyones pics are so nice, Debbie once you are finished and it's filled in you'll have a magazine  setting it's already stunning.   Still hoping for some color here, most of the daffodils froze out with the last cold snap, glad my tulips don't bloom till May.  Here is a pic. from last may, I have it on my desktop to keep me feeling sunny.  And a couple  of my favorite May photos from last year, that keep me hoping for warm days

Thanks, took a walk in the woods yesterday, and I don't think it will look as nice this year a lot of the tulips and all the daffodils got nipped by our late cold and snow fall.  But the wild flowers should be good.  This is my "secret garden"  It is for the two grandkids that never made it into this beautiful world.  Yes Debbie that is my Grandson, I still need to get those pictures framed, gave them to my daughter but have not yet gotten them done for myself.

it's not letting me post anymore pics, keeps saying file is too large. Even though I resized them. Maybe there is a glitch going on. I will try again later.

Kathy,
It looks like there is not much compression on your jpg. For a small pic it is a pretty large file size. Try a little more compression when you create the jpg. You should be able to get much bigger shots posted, you just have to mess with the compression settings sometimes.

If you are the one of the ones who is using the resize option in window explorer I realize this is not an option.

You need to understand that the darker or less colors used in an image then that means the smaller the size will be in a jpg. If you can't get one below the 200 Kb size threshold for the pond board, look at cropping it to make it smaller before you resize it or crop out extraneous areas of the shot. If none of this makes sense to you, don't worry, just let me know what photo viewing or editing software you have on your computer and I will help you work it out. In a worst case scenario you can even crop and save as a jpg in Microsoft Paint.
