New pond with pics
« on: April 16, 2007, 10:48:32 AM »
So, I decided to add to my water garden and built a new pond:

Top of the current pond (250 gallons, 10 foot stream)

The hole - it doesn't look like much

some size comparison with tools:

Size with my 7 year old:

And now the puppy joins him:

With the liner, doesn't look like much again:

Even from this angle:

Looking a bit more like a pond:

8.5' x 8.5' x 3.5 ':

That looks terrific!  I can't wait to see it all finished, and how it looks next to your water garden.

Thanks all - work and the weather has paused my efforts, but this weekend is looking up.

I'll be linking the new pond to the old via a stream (you can see in the first two pictures I've covered over the path/walkway with dirt where the stream will be).

Then, I'll be building a bridge of some kind to go over the new stream.

I'm still struggling with how to finish off the bank of the new pond, though...  I might figure on lowering the water level a couple inches so I can make the berm walls lower, cover them with soil and plant some low creeper-type like a vinca or sedum.  And I still have to get rocks to line the top shelf.

More pics to come this weekend!
