help with UV lite in savio skimmer
« on: May 09, 2007, 07:39:54 AM »
I know I can put UV lite in my savio skimmer.
Question is what brand and how big do I get.
My pond is about 5,000 gallons.
External pump.
Am wondering how about flow rates. My one pump runs the falls.the hand pump  and a couple spitters easily. But impossible to measure how much water in going through skimmer to get a ideas of flow rate.
Any ideas would be great.

Zydia-
I take it you don't want to get the savio UV light that fits right in the skimmer?  there is a new model by Savio this year that is supposed to be "better". It sounds like you may need 2 of them for 5000 gallons. One on each side of the skimmer. Someone will be able to help better than I, but i think it goes by the size of the pond in gallons and the size pump you have. If the water flows to quickly, it doesn't have time to kill off cooties before it's pumped on past.

Oh yes, I do want to get one for the skimmer, just wondering what to get, and how to figure the flow rate.

Zydia-

I know everyone has been busy on other topics the last day or so.
I think you will need 2 savio lights, one on each side of the skimmer. I would say each 50 or 75 watts. A savio dealer should be albe to help you figure it out. Our pond is 3500 gallons with a 3600gph pump and we were told 2 @ 50 watts.
