I had a little tourist come to visit today.  :)
The pups know -- the littler the tourists,
the bigger the snacks. @O@

Yep, he's a cutie alright!
Kids (and adults) eyes just light up when they feed the fish.

Have a wonderful Memorial weekend!

Any flats of annuals going in soon?

Thank you ladies for your kind comments.  :)

Bonnie, the head groundskeeper is alternating between wearing his cabinetmaking hat
and plumbing hat. We're almost done with a bathroom remodel, actually all we did was
make the cabinets and counter top. Today he finishing up and then I'll go in and clean it up.
So, he hasn't had much time to play outside, so far he's planted only 4 flats, but plans
to go out tomorrow for more. He also bought 4 huge pots of geraniums  and a huge pot of petunias.
We  placed the petunia pot on top of the waterfall...He also started several big pots of impatience
for when the petunias fizzle out in the hot summer the impatience pots are ready to go in their spot.
The last couple of years I planted tuberous begonias in pots and hung them from our pergola, and
they did great... this year I did the same, planted 6 moss baskets with tuberous begonias
and also planted my herbs and a couple of large
pots with arugula sp?  (love arugula mixed in with the salad.)

I just took this 10 minutes ago, of the tuberous begonias.

This is what they'll look like in a month, I hope

He is just absolutely precious!  So thoughtful looking.  I like how you just give him a jar cap, limits the amount he can toss in!

Tuberous begonias, interesting.  I like that I idea.  I have 8 baskets of bougainvillea I bring into the gh every winter and bring out in the spring to hang around the porch.  They bloom intermittently.  Begonias would be a much better alternative!

Gonna try it! Thanks

Curious if the two of you ever take time to relax??   I'm sure with your beautiful pond and home that you do but you always have projects that you are working on!

Wow look at the pond plants already.. your lotus looks like it's really grew already.

Thanks again for sharing.  I've missed you and your posts!

Joann,
He is a darling little boy. And your fish are getting so big... almost looks like the fish could polish off the boy!  ;)

I love tuberous begonias. I just re potted one that has survived indoors for a few winters now. I'm happy about that (my green thumbs turn brown in the winter).

Your pergola and pond looks as beautiful as ever.  O0

Thank you guys, Karen I had one that I wintered over too...didn't make it this year. This is it.
I'm crazy for the Tuberous Begonia, I think they make a spectacular showing...
I took this from inside the house, this pot on the left is the begonia I wintered over,
but it died this winter.

Mucky,
we had a candy machine that I got at a yard sale --  it had three compartments in it. You deposited a quarter
and got a handful of fish food or cheerios to feed the fish...It finally rusted out and I had to toss it...
gotta look for another one...someone's gotta make money around here!  >:(- NO Free Food!

Oh Joann...  ;D... A CANDY machine! That is truly a wonderful idea. Especially for the little ones. Portion control!
I will keep my eyes peeled at garage sales.

Looks like your Chief was taking a break from finishing a table  ;), how pretty. Nice begonias too. There's something about the vivid colors and textured leaves, isn't there?.

I think I've finally got the hang of the Tuberous Begonias. As with any plant, it's all about finding the right place. My daughter's bathroom turned out to be the right place.

Joann, your pups are gorgeous as ever.  And the water clear as a bell.  It always looks so lush there and I envy the exotic garden retreat.  It is so hard to keep things green here on the zone 3 prairie.

I went on eBay 2 summers ago and bought an old gumball machine.  That is where I keep the fish food.  Planning on painting a little sign at our garden entry pergola that says: "Pond Tours 25c" with a vintage can nailed to the plaque.

Here is our gumball machine

There ya go Karen, Jennie's that's perfect.  :)
the one I had was om a stand as was 25 cents, yours is cuter.
Two weeks ago  I pulled up to a yard sale, and a woman was
walking down the driveway with a vintage candy machine that
she just bought. I was a few minutes too late!
The little tourists get a real kick out of buying the food.

Looking great Joan, and a cute wee fella to boot!

I always rush into garage sales afraid that I might have just missed something and hate it when I spot something someone else is holding that I must have!!

I hate that.

He is soooooooooooo cute  o(:-).  I just love to see the kids faces when they feed the fish or when the fish follow them around the pond because they want food. o(:-).  I have a candy machine in the garage I think I will do that with mine.  Great idea  O0 O0.

Viv, doncha hate when that happens! you have to be fast and grab what you want, even if your not sure yet.
You can always put it back down, but you can't grab it out of someone's hand!

They sell candy machines in the toy store too, if you can't find one at a yard sale.
The little tourists love them, and it does control how how food gets dumped into
the pond.
The one Jennie has is perfect though, ours was similar only it had three compartments
and it was on a stand.
