When I first saw this a few months ago I thought about bidding... that was before I saw the starting price...OUCH.
When the Nelson's introduced the Lindsey Woods several years back they charged a $20 fee over the regular lily price to donate to a cancer society in little Lindsey's name.
The Pink Ribbon lilies could sell for 3 lilies for at least $500 = $1500.
In the last 7 years the Nelsons have been able to donate over $31,000 dollars to the Texas Children's Hospital in Lindsey's Name.
I applaud the idea behind the auction but perhaps the Nelson-Woods idea would be a better model to try and raise more funds in the long term as well as have many more people be able to afford to buy the lily as well as help the charity.
Just my thoughts.

Tim, that's awesome.. didn't know that about Lindsey Woods.
Do you know where I can read about her or would you share?
It's possible that some wil come up with the money, right now it's about a donation not owning a waterlily. Or if I had that kind of money to give to give, that is the way that I would feel.
Maybe to some it would mean bragging rights though.
