lily pond complete.......
« on: June 23, 2007, 11:29:41 AM »
almost.   Well we were on vacation last week and put the final rocks in place, bubbler stone working, but may need tweeking, bridge in and some plants transplanted.  It got very hot so I stopped transplanting, didn't want to fry any more.  DH is pleased, I like it to but have planting yet to do, next year it should be better.  Added an 1800gph pump and homemade skimmer/filter.  Have a gazzillion tadpoles, lots have been sucked in the skimmer mats but still plenty.  Have heard at least 4 different types of frog/toad songs, the little tree frogs are the loudest.  Best thing is I can walk the entire length of the house now inside and when the windows are open I can see and hear water, even in the bedroom.  The falls and the pot have totaly different sounds but each is nice.  A few lilies are blooming, but seeing as they are all splits from the main pond are smaller, I have one tropical about to bloom also.  Even my first lotus bloomed today.   Here are a few views to give you an idea.

Three lilies at once yesterday

Have an abundance of Red Admirals this year, and they really like the bubbler stone area

Very nice ponds. I like your rock and the pot spilling the water into your lily pond. Very nicely done. You also have a beautiful lotus and pretty lilies. Nice photos.

Thanks everyone, I just love being able to here the water and see a pond now from all the windows on the backside of the house.  I know things will fill in and in a few years look even better.

Debbie, I'm so glad to see you, was going to send these pics to you tommorrow but now you've seen them.  Now that I'm getting things done I'll have more time to chat and email.

Marla it looks fabulous! I understand, we in the north have to wait awhile for our established gardens. Bummer, I hate that!
It's really cool that you have attracted so many different kinds of frogs and toads!
Keep posting pics, they are really pretty!

you will be using the word "almost" in relation to complete until you either die, move or fill it in.  ;) ;D

'completed pond' is an oxymoron.  ::)

but yours has a beautiful start!! i wish i had the land for something like that. i also agree with Kim, the shot of the 3 blooms in the classic colors is a memorable one. that would sell more of those lily combo packages on ebay than any of the pics they use!!

i know you're going to enjoy your pond because i enjoy just seeing pics of it!!  :2thumbs:

Marla, you did an outstanding job. It doesn't even look "new".  O0

We have a lot of the Red Admirals too this year. Wonder why? They are fun.

I like the way your bubbler rock worked out. I did find some old pics of mine, but couldn't really see the water coming out. There are some amazing rocks in this general area.
