have to trade - latest packages shipped 7/9
« on: June 21, 2007, 08:47:42 PM »
I would really like to possibly get some smaller dwarf types that will work well in smaller tubs. but i'm also open to any other nice healthy lilies that i don't have. or daylilies! or any interesting plants for that matter.

i have marginals and terrestrials to trade

marginals -
marsh marigold - small starts from runners
yellow flag iris
parrot's feather
rooted watercress
fairy moss probably comes free with anything on this list but i've got lots if you want a large amount
a couple of divisions of full size horsetail
1 division of california blue rush
1 small start of chameleon plant

land plants -
cleopatra canna - GONE FOR THIS SEASON
apple mint
the best mint (honest - that's what it's called)
lemon balm
angel's trumpet cuttings for rooting - 3 varieties - double white, pink, orange
a great succulent ground cover that does well anywhere and looks like the indoor plant pepperomia
green spiderplant acclimated to outdoors - does great in shade or partial sun
perennial blue morning glory
blackberry - rooted stalk starts of very sweet unknown variety
small lily of nile starts

i have pics of most of these or can take some if you would like to see them first.

Do you still need mayla? I think I have an extra blooming one. Should open in a day or so. PM me if you would like it! I could use some marginals.

yes LeeAnn, i have a a few more cleos left. sounds great! you've got my addy, just send me yours in a pm.  (still don't have my seeds, did you send them?)

that's all for the cleopatra canna for right now unless anyone would be satisfied with some very small starts/root divisions.

Sorry, I thought I sent a PM, the USPS was very slow in getting boxes and stamps to me then a friend from high school showed up on Thursday with one day notice. I didn't get anyone's packages mailed. The seeds I had collected molded in zip lock bags so I'm using paper envelopes.

I did just PM my address.

I shipped your box today.

ok, good news and bad news -

bad news - it's almost 5 o'clock and i don't have a single box packed and ready to go due to 4 hrs of planned productivity lost to needing sleep. i can get them out wednesday for sure. for some that might mean a saturday delivery. i would think that Lawanna and LeeAnne should have theirs by friday no problems, but all others will be risky. if that's a problem i can ship on friday so that you get them on monday. i would say wait til next monday but with the 4th on weds.,  that might be a bad idea. or i can hold off til the following friday or monday for anyone who might be going out of town for the holiday (as Kathy has already informed me she is) - let me know either here or by original communication method what works for you. i'm really sorry about this!! but...

GOOD NEWS - for those who want cannas i discovered i have more than i had thought, several are larger than i thought and there is at least one that shows the potential for the characteristic 2 color bloom of the cleopatra for each of you who have asked so far!! so i'll be giving you a few more than i said and at least one should be bicolor. i'll also be throwing in a few surprises from the list so if there's anything you absolutely don't want let me know. otherwise you'll get what i pick out. (you won't get parrot's feather or azolla unless you asked for it because i figure those are pond staples for most)

the canna good news also means that i will probably still have a few more available after i get the current ones out so if anyone stilll wants some stay tuned later in the week.

also if anyone would like some blackberry plants (very thorny but tasty kind - sorry i don't know the variety) i've got some of those as well now. removing them from around the cannas has been what ate up much of the productive time i had left today. they'll be cut back to about a foot of stalk so i doubt you would see berries this year since they are blooming and starting to produce berries here at this time.

again, i'm really sorry but i hope to make it up to all of you who were expecting me to ship today!!

thanks to all for being so understanding!!

i got the 1st three packages out - bonnie, leeanne and lawanna.

will try to get nancyb's, jerryg's, and double s's out on friday for a monday delivery. of course the first person to respond with the lily i most wanted is going to be the last to go - kathy will be getting hers after she gets back from vacation during the first part of july.

i'm not planning to do anymore shipping to anyone not already on this list until i do kathy's package. if anyone else would like to trade for delivery then, let me know.  8)

Hey Ed, you got anything left, Angel Trumpet cuttings and/or Azolla? Oh, that arrowhead that you are looking for, are you refering to the Aztec Arrowhead? If you don't get it, let me know. I'm about to do some searching for it myself. The last one that I saw was at the Ace Hardware in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Scott, i have everything left that's on the list at the present time. i edited it earlier to reflect what is gone.

i still have not found the arrowhead. and yes, that is the one! thanks, i didn't know the common name for it (or the latin one for that matter ;D ) i got one at my local nursery the first year and it came back great the second year but not the third. i have a plain white one now but its struggling and just not the same. i asked about it at the nursery a couple of times and somehow the days i was there were always the days the pond guy wasn't.

plan to finally trim back the angel's trumpets this weekend so your timing for this request is very good. i'm pretty sure these cannas would look pretty good down your way as well. just have rhizomes left but the size of them is bigger than what i started with. i originally got 6 single stalked rhizomes that had been cut off to about 2" of stalk. just enough to tell if they were purple or green. tried them in water as that's the way they came to me. didn't do much and i moved them to the shade garden where they have flourished ever since.

send me a pm or email to work out the specifics.
