You Have Got To Be Kidding Me!
« on: September 05, 2006, 06:10:56 PM »
I was just sharing a story with the fetching one about how when I was a kid of about age 6 or 7 I once found this HUGE tumbleweed that came rolling around.  The darn thing was a monster, taller than me, which in hindsight as a big person now probably wasn?t all that big. :D   I remember wanting to play with it the next day and because of the Santa Ana winds I took some string and tied it down so that it wouldn?t blow away.  The next morning it had escaped and was gone?. :'(

In any event, after telling her that story I decided to Google ?huge tumbleweeds? and I came across this site, Rawhide Studios, that actually sells tumbleweeds for as much as $35.00 + shipping! (8:-) ::) lol   And they are actually out of stock!  In the inland empire area, east of where I live, they have LOTS of tumbleweeds.  After a Santa Ana wind you can drive along and see tumbleweeds piled 6? high along chain link fences.   Imagine that; hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of tumbleweeds??..  When I told the fetching one about someone actually selling tumbleweeds, and more importantly, someone actually buying tumbleweeds for 35 bucks a pop her response was.......... You have got to be kidding me!

By the way, anyone out there need a tumbleweed?  Being the nice guy that I am, I will sell you the large ones for only $25 + shipping.  You save ten bucks!

Several years ago I too dug out a jade plant of about 4-5' in height, chopped it up and tossed it$$$$ :P.  I guess we tend to take some things for granted that are common here but unique elsewhere.  When I was at the Minneapolis airport one winter I stood and stared at the hanging ice cycles.  Locals probably thought I was weird....  I remember my former partner, a New Yorker, telling me that when he enlisted in the military he was transferred to California and upon arriving he just stood staring up at the palm trees.

Does it count that I bought my Mom a piece of driftwood that cost 70.00?! This was no exceptional piece of driftwood- she could have gone to the beach and picked out a similar one for free.  :D

I have a couple Jade plants. They are 9+ years old, and not much taller than a foot.  >:(- Yet again, I am jealous of you warm-climate peeps!  ;)

I can supply, at a nominal charge, tumbleweeds to Jerry and Mike to sell...
You will probably need multiple suppliers.

Hmmmm.  And what does one do with a tumbleweed after purchasing it?   lol

I saw a few growing up in Oklahoma; you've seen one, you've seen 'em all.
