Of course you may not agree.  My wife accused me of being sneaky!

She has a nice lounger.  Besides me!
She is not a sun person.  I took this after 6:00, the pond was pretty shaded

That looks like a tropical paradise.

Our place looks like a dried out prairie...OH...it is a dried out prairie.  Unless it is hotter than 95* I'd rather be outside.

Sue, a few of my favorite plants came from Texas, Caldwells Nursery, Rosenberg TX
They had a few I could not find elsewhere.

Hey Jerry didn't mean to not acknowledge your veritable tropical oasis but I just noticed others admiring your greens and thought we take it for granted.  At least I do, living here.  Everyone here has at least one large palm of sorts.  I have a few... :D  (Can't handle exploding seed pods)

But yours is especially nice with your pond mirage setting  O0

My 2 cents 8)

palm trees = the crab grass of the tree world.

I'm constantly picking small palm starts from everywhere, you can't let them get very big or they are a pain to get out.

I believe the palms Jonna is talking about is the California fan palm, Washintonia.  A neighbor has many and I have seedlings popping up everywhere too.  I have considerd clumping and bending a bunch, but the  huge "skirt" they get is very expensive to trim.  The tree gets maybe 80 ft high. A pro is needed to trim. Otherwise they look like this

Yes, those are them.  We just had the big ones trimmed, the gardeners just rigged a line and climbed them with a small chain saw.  Scary looking but they do it all the time.

Funny it should come up here, last night on the news they had the reminder to everyone to get their palms trimmed, they catch fire really quickly if not trimmed and roof rats live in the skirts.

And to think, here in zone 5, we can grow palms as house plants only. I got a couple from Wally World (WalMart) and will likely have to throw them away this winter when the mites attack.  :'( But I gotta get my Oaks, Ashes, & Lindens trimmed... if it ain't one thing, it's another.  ;)

Jerry, that's a really nice photo.  :) Relax and enjoy. One of the truly great pleasures of life.  :)
